Hey, I shot bugs bunny yesterday, and since I already have a white skin, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with dying hides? I was thinking black? Maybe just regular hair dye? Thanks.

Hi Aaron - i use a lot of dyes. Veniards specifically. I,d suggest dying small parts of the skin at a time, even doing test patches. With fresh materials the natural oils inhibit the dye so things have to be throurghly cleaned and prepped first. The dying process is simple but the actual" skin" part of the skin will absorb a lot of dye so it is wise to test the brew to make sure you are getting the colour in the fibers you want. John Yury in Dauphin has the dyes.
ps -word from the "been there done that" the dyes will dye EVERYTHING!!!!! including stove top enemal -who knew:))))

I take it your wife did not like the tie dyed look of her new stove. Rite dye does a perty good job and is reddily available Veniards are not as easily available here. if i was commercialy tying I would entertaine the dye your own route but for personal use I can get just about everything I need at the craft stores.
