Want your dries, floating nymphs and emergers to stay afloat??
Tie in some foam, sponge or styrofoam on first.
Cut to shape and tie on the hook before you do anything else. Stays floating with no floatant.
Use as an under body for streamers to make "crippled minnows"

Not so! No foam is nonabsorbent but have you ever seen a sponge (very absorbent) sink?? Even full of water they sit on the surface of the pail water. (i noticed this as i pass the bucket the wife uses )

;D one way i tie my flies so they float high, is to spray scotch guard on them after i tie them. added with a little dry fly floatant when you are about to fish them, and you have a long lasting high riding fly.
