John gave me this fly on the shores of William Lake. As with all flies people give me I didn' t fish it but kept it to tie my own and variations of same. Here It Is!

Hi Robert
I have been out of commision for a little while but am back know. I see you have put a Butt ugly picture of my fly on this site. ;D That's ok. I have a better one along with the recipe and tying instructions for you to post. That way everyone can have a go at tying it. It took a few years to get this fly developed from the original pattern which I found in the Fly Fisherman magazine back in the 1980's. I think the pattern is a much better representation of a minnow/baitfish than the original which had a flat body.I do this pattern in several colours. The all white version of this has probably been my most productive version although I have had great fishing with the super version at Mchugh and Gull lakes where it first proved itself.

Robert, no matter how many pictures you take of the super zonker it will always be butt ugly! I remember teaching the caddisguy to tie flies and his were the ugliest creations going but they always caught fish. So much for being a perfect tier. I will tell you that fly has caught a lot of fish for me as well as the caddisguy. You may want to ask him about his black earring outing for smallmouth. What a trip.
