Trying diff patterns of Sedge Hog fly. Here’s one of mine! Hook- barbless size 10 Tail- orange calf tail. Body- olive deer hair and one clump of orange calf tail Legs- black pheasant tail. Thread- 6/0 red. Head - olive Dark water dubbing.

nice. i always seem to have trouble tying calf tail it always slips out on me when i go to tighten it down or i break the thread

nice. i always seem to have trouble tying calf tail it always slips out on me when i go to tighten it down or i break the thread Mmm, not sure why...I find it easier then deer because it’s softer. The trick I find is keeping your thread short and close to your thumb, almost pinching it, then 2 loose wrap then bind down. It’s deff. not my favourite material to work with that’s for sure.
