Hi, I’m very new to fly fishing and picked up the ‘bug’ along time ago but never followed through. I was formerly a guide and very recently made a trip to the Crowsnest River for my first ‘river’ trout fishing experience. I have completely fallen in love with trout fishing in rivers but suspect the majority of my trout fishing with a fly rod will be done in our lakes of northern Manitoba as that’s where I live. I’ll probably ask some questions that might be common knowledge to experienced fly fishermen so bear with me while I navigate the site and information here.
Thanks, Dean

River fishing for trout in the Crowsnest/Fernie area is quite spectacular isn't it? Been making that trip at least once a year (sometimes 2 or even 3 times) for a few years now but it does kinda' ruin it for what is available for us here though. Those freestone streams are a whole different world and so much fun!!! My profile pic is me landing a cutthroat on a creek on the BC side just outside the Crowsnest Pass. Would be more than happy to share whatever knowledge/experience I have regarding that type of fishing.

Fishing the Crow was awesome. I had/have very little fly fishing experience but managed about a fish an hour pace which, along with the view, suited me just fine. It’s definitely going to be a yearly pilgrimage I intend to enjoy while I am able. Already planning next years trip !!!
