Had an awesome first morning out on the red. Stopped into the general store there and the women working helped me find spots to park and fish. Cold and rainy but managed a few hours fishing before the wind picked up too much. Landed my first drum on a black ddh leech and a smaller cat shortly after. Had some great practice casting into the wind. I think I needed more weight on my flies because I wasnt getting caught up on bottom at all. Going to try and get out again in June.

That's awesome. Check the Drum beater video in my signature line. Sometimes I wind a bunch of lead around the hook shank to get down to bottom. Really, if you're not snagging once in a while, you're not in the best zone. Also, wade out until you're right up to your privates and cast farther out.
