Wondering if the pattern you saw was John Kent's Blind Eye Charlie. It is a very light green ( chartreuse ) colour.

Dollarama sells latex elastics in the hair care area in a box of various colours. The nice thing is they stretch easily so the body chironomid body shape is easy. Downside is you can't use any glue on the head. Before I cut the elastic I bend it back and overwrap the latex with thread to prevent it from pulling out. Makes really nice flies and you can rib it with wire. Some of the elastics are semi-transparent so an underbody of tinsel will show through. Sorry for the fuzzy photo....but I think you get the idea. Google the anti static chironomid (or anti-static pupa), or just go straight to Phil Rowley's site, and look at the fly. It uses the anti-static bags that electronic come in as a body wrap. There are different types of these bags, so you want to ensure you get the right kind. Your local computer shop should have a few for free, or if you really want, you can buy them on ebay. That should be a last resort, however, as you should be able to get some for free.
