Conditions are still good in Lockport. This afternoon: 2 drums, 2 carps above 30 inches and 4 cats (32, 34,35,36). Several more hits.

I was out there twice, today and on Thursday with minimal luck. A few saugers and walleye and that is it. I did however, lose a big toothy predator on Thursday. I had the bite, set the hook, ran for two seconds then twang! Bit clean through my leader. Still wonder what it was...?

Could have been pike, could have been garbage with a sharp edge (like a hunk of sheet metal) that the leader got too close to. Main channel, or the floodway? Pike tend to like calmer waters, like the floodway, and tend to avoid heavier flow areas like the main channel. They can be in there, they just don't stay there very long.

Could have been a pike, I was fly fishing on the main channel in the slower moving water. I for sure know it wasn't any garbage, it was a good solid hit, then an abrupt run and the leader went. I'm guessing it was a nice walleye judging from the way it hit.

Back today from 15:00 to 19:00. A little slow initially, but it got going, albeit slower that the past two weeks. 3 of 4 cats landed, 2 fights with carps with early release. Also saugers, 1 drum and a few goldeye.
