Hello anglers! Long time, no post. Sorry about that. Well, it's just a little too cold out for even this fisherman to go out this weekend, so I broke out the fly tying gear from the storage bin and tried my hand at the vise again. In anticipation of spring Pike action, I thought I'd give the big Pike flies a try. These are experimental, and the first of the kind I've tried to make, so just learning construction basics. Also picked up on the back-tying of the deer hair to get the hairs splayed out from the hook shank to give the over-all body of the fly a larger profile without adding too much extra bulk. (As per the pink/orange/yellow creation.) On this fly I thought I'd deliberately cover the gap with some hair to try to make the thing somewhat weedless since I anticipate throwing this along weed edges and over very shallow rocks. Saw on Kanalgratis.se YouTube channel, this interesting concept of tying a twister tail onto some of these big Pike flies, so I thought the chartreuse tail might go with the pink/blue/white thing. Will try a few other color combos, but I'm kinda limited by the two tail colors I ordered. As with everything, practice, practice, practice. Next thought is to try some extra-big articulated examples for bigger Pike and Muskies.

Nice ties, those would definitely pick up some chum salmon on the coast.

I'm thinking some MONSTER Pike with those critters. Nice job.
