I have not been too active at the vice for the past year. With a fall fishing trip on the horizon I needed to restock (actually stock) the fly box. This was the weekend production (it was taking almost thirty minutes a fly when I got started again) In detail they are: Ice Minnow by Bob Morenski (from the FLIPPR site) a small school of them - hope this is a hit! Blue, Green, Black and one brown Clouser Minnows Crystal Chenille Backswimmers (Brian Chan)

Then I needed some poppers - in the end my material supplies and a recommendation to look up "the gurgler" had me make these: Blue Gurgler (with the chenille body as called for) Green Gurgler - using a feather as the body to get the hackle spikes.

And finally the last one for the box. The Mouse Rat from "In the Riffle" on You Tube The underside and the mess!!! That was the hardest one I have done to date, and will need lots more practice with the deer hair. A razor blade may make it easier too. I had an issue with the ears - too big after tying on, then I trimmed too much away and they looked weird. I just had to stop snipping or I was not going to get anything resembling a mouse. If my wife's reaction is judge - it looks like a mouse! I think I may make McBeth house a few times this winter! Enjoy and here is looking forward to a good tying season coming up.

Nice ties!, The fish cant see the ears anyway!!. Hopefully a fish or two has the misfortune of taking down that mouse...or three. What are your planned destinations for the fall ?
Cheers, Paul

Cheers, Paul Thanks! They can't see Eyes either! My usual eastern suspects (Hunt & Lyons), Foot Print Lake, and I hope to slip out Patterson way or William / Bower but those will depend on weather and time. Foot Print is going to replace my Ducks trip so we will see if it lives up to its reputation. I am not that successful at landing anything big after a strike yet, so I hope to convert a few of those takes to pictures! Bad days fishing usually beat good days working so I am sure I will enjoy myself.

Thanks, Here is the link for anyone who does not know what the FLIPPR site is: www.flippr.ca/patterns.shtmlYou will find the Ice Minnow pattern there along with others. I have had good luck with Tom Thumbs - unfortunately mainly smaller fish - but catching them on the surface is like crack to me! I will spend way too much time in the back bay at Lyons enticing that one small rainbow to take my fly off the surface.
