What are some goods books I could invest in to further my knowledge of fly fishing, tying, or casting? I am not looking to buy your personal books just want to know titles or authors to look for and I can do the rest. Thanks

Most of my books are on tying but here are the ones in my library Fly Fisherman's Primer (it has been revised a few times to reflect changes over time)Fling and Puterbaugh Roderick Haig-Bown A Primer of Fly-Fishing never revised never need to as it is kind of a classic and the author is dead The rest are books on casting Lefty Kreh's Modern Fly Casting Methods George Roberts Master the Cast Ed Jaworski (and Kreh disciple)Trouble-Shooting the Cast
As well I have many back issues of Fly Fishing Magazines I offer for free to anyone who wants to stop by.

One of my favorite books is entitled My Way With Trout by Arthur Cove. It is a little harder to find and isn't that current but it is the one book I would grab if I had to pick just one.

Not technical at all, but one of the best flyfishing-related authors around is John Gierach. Mostly philosophical/humourous/story-telling, but just a wonderful way with the verbs and nouns. eg (paraphrased): It's permissable to miss your girlfriend while on a fishing trip - but only between hatches.

The book "The Longest Silence" by Thomas Mcguane is an excellent book. I have never got around to reading finishing it, but it is one of my favourite fly fishing books.

This book is a must for our fishing situations if you can find it In Pursuit of Stillwater Trout by Brian Clarke Although the author comes from England it hits the nail right on the head for Canadian stillwaters.

For fly tying, I have more than 50 books. I recommend the following:
Peter Gathercole Fly Tying Bible - also, if you are a beginner, his beginners book. Duplicate flies, but I like his stuff. Easy to find.
Another great general tying book is Fly Patterns by Fishing Guides. Great patterns that look like they would work, and has recently been published, so should be easy to find.
For realism, I prefer Oliver Edwards Flytyers Masterclass. It’s been re-released as a hard cover with spiral binding. Excellent book. For hyper realism, consider Flies as Art by Paul Whillock. Incredible detailed flies, excellent book, beautiful pictures and drawings.
For Canadian content, consider the Compendium of Canadian Fly Patterns. It has some of my favourite Canadian tyers, such as Brian Chan, Phil Rowley, and Ian Colin James (Ontario angler who is a big fan of targeting Carp). It also has Manitoba tyers like Gerry Beck (his keel streamers should be in everyone’s fly box), Bob Sheedy (say what you want, he knows the parklands), and Mike Andreasen (North Dakota tyer, but fishes the Parklands quite a bit.
Consider the Fly Tier’s Benchside Reference. Lots of great info there.
Finally, consider great websites like Global Fly Fisher, Fly Anglers Online, youtube, etc.
For general angling, I have the entire angling part of the Hunting and Fishing Library from Cowles Publishing. General angling, but lots of great hints that can be applied against fly fishing.
