oK THE SECOND ONE IS A LONG SHAFT MOTOR BETTER FOR DEEP LAKES..
but im not fan of mercs because of the price of the ignition parts..
i think both boats should be no more than 2000 at most...
a good deal would be 1500 for the second one...but thats wishfull thinking till fall time
i have bought and sold many and owned many for fishing,,
If i could have a bvoat combo i would go with a simple duck boat or a jon boat
14 ft ,, or 12ft..
16ft jon is a bit to big for me but for a large family would be good..
Why i recommend a jon Boat or duck boat is for the river fishing you cant find a better boat really on the river .
for size even a 12 ft jon flat bottom is excellent ,, aND for the ease of fly fishing in a jon boat is the way to go is a pleasure!
because its bigger and wider way more room and way more stable on the water being flat bottomed
also it does not draw that much water and you can explore in shallower water..,,
as for motors i would look for a late 1980s -1995s 9.9 hp or a better yet 15 hp johnson or evenrude
one is fuel consumption and reliablitly and weight! If you find one in decent shape make sure to change the water pump first thing and examine the lower unit oil .. change that,,,good for years!
i have friends with the new four stroke hondas, yammys but they are pain to transport and are heavier....
Dont get me wrong honda builds a fine machine but you gonna pay alot for it....And i wouldnt use one in a river or rocks!
A 15hp johnson or even a 9.9 is the perfect setup on a jon boat and a electric trolling motor of course..
However one other thing is Down the road the fourstrokes will only be allowed which i feel is nonsense..
NOw keep this in mind if your going to be going on big water like huge deep lakes then use your jon boat with care dont go way out
in the middle stick to the shore line thats where the fish are most time anyway unless yer down rigging fer lakers i guess. ,,
When the wind comes up on you fast you have to have the power to get the hell outta there fast!
ADEEP V lund at least 16ft with at least 30hp-50 merc or johnson ,,
but always have a backup motor..like a small trolling motor like a four hp or 6 hp.. for the lund..
I have seen alot of 9.9 and 15hp motors on the kijijij sites with lunds which isnt a bad deal
but try and find a deep v if you can
i wouldnt pay more than 2500 for the combo..
i know a brand new good quality duck boat will only be around a 1000 bucks but then you have to find a motor
which would be about another 500 or lil more..
best advise i can give you...tAKE IT OR LEAVE IT..
THe only other EXCELLEnt BOAT IS A ZODIAC but they suck to fly fish out of...
hope this helps...
CREEK..
I have friend who specializes in Outboards and the 9.9hp and 15hp Johnson and evinrudes
are the ultimate motor for weight size hp and power..And for cost of parts...
i can hook you up with one for around $600 with new water pump coils and serviced ready to go!
A 9.9 and 15hp is the same motor!just different carbs and a bit different carb silencer..
many good factrors are that when owning a boat if you can keep your motor a 9.9 which is under 10hp
you dont have to go through abunch of paper work,,
So basically you can take a 9.9 and put a 15hp carb on it
so then you will have 9.9hp which really puts out as 15hp!...
Same motor....
Heres one i would look into for around the 1800- 2000 mark
