ANTIQUE AL&W FIBERGLASS FLY ROD
Last weekend i was out hunting yard at sales like normal for fishing related items. ANd i came across this nice old glass AL&W fiber glass fly rod ...
There it was a rusty brown rod laying on a yard sale table with a bunch of other junk on top of it! So I carefully picked it up and looked at closely to my delight i found this unwanted fishing rod to strike me as completely beautiful!
So i quickly paid the asking price for it with no dickering
to the person that was selling it.
I asked is this your fishing rod ?and they said "no i do not fish! it was my fathers and he past away so its just junk!.......So after hearing that i then tryed to read the name on the logo of the rod,
i could barely make it out but i could see it it was made in Canada! THATS Even better!..I did a lil research on it...
So THis is how it goes
The AL&W fishing company originates from Toronto Canada and has been around since the late 1800s...
They did have and sell quite a large selection of fly fishing and other fishing equipment in Canada, and from the looks of this rod it is a very well made Canadian Antique Fly Rod!.
I have came across a few other fishing rods By AL&W and they have been nothing but excellent..Also a wooden AL&W pikie Minnows simular to creek chub and the Luckystrike brand during my fleamarket and yard sale adventures through the years..
SO i decided why not instead of hanging this piece on the wall well i must try it!
And i must add !!
does this old glass fly rod ever ast like dream!!!
AND even with its old original line! IM AM very impressed! OR would have not even write about it!
SERIOUSLY i cant believe how nice this rod casts! I will be using this one on bass thats a forsure!
Anyways if anyone here might have a old fly rod that you want get rid of just let me know i will take care VERY very good care of it for you ;D
Send me a PM
Thanks
