I spent the last week chasing Salmon on Vancouver Island and quickly realised that my 20+ year-old Hodgeman boots were not going to work for me. I had a feeling about that and had done some research beforehand. I had narrowed it down to either the Redington Skagit with rubber sole or the Simms Blackfoot w/ vibram sole. I could only find the Simms I am very happy with them. At $129 I found them a great value and they stick to slimy rocks in fast current extremely well. One downside is that the stiching for the sole seems to be slightly exposed, the store owner said that it shouldn't matter and Simms has a great warranty anyway. I decided to put in their carbide beaded studs to raise the boots off the ground. They are amazing.
