Here's how the tattoo is looking the day after getting ink'd. It's based off a big brown I caught last year and is a way of recognizing and remembering that fish. 4lb. tippet, hopper pattern, 5wt rod, and one hell of a fight! Not to mention a perfect male brown. Here's the design And what we have done thus far.

My tattoo artist did that drawing. I gave her the original sketch and let her come up with something. I didn't want my art on me. =P

Haha. A perfectly placed piercing? I like it! Might get a little uncomfortable but I think I could live with it. Now when I'm casting and I hook myself in the back I can still catch something!

Holy geez. At the itchy peeling stage. Good times. But there's hope. Wherever a piece of skin falls, underneath is the shiny new ink. ;D
Heading back in two weeks for the second session. So stoked to git'r'done.

When you first mentioned the tattoo, I was thinking of something small on the shoulder... Or medium-sized on the forearm...
That puppy must be pretty close to life size!!!

Yea she's good size alright. Was originally going to get something down my side and my tattoo artist and I convinced me to do it across my back. haha.
We're hoping for one more session. I've got the 22nd booked for the next one.

I am looking forward to seeing it completed, she is going a wonderful job!

Thanks man. Yea today at the trade show was pretty torturous. Was warm in there and sweat and wounds don't mix very well. Makes for a steady stinging feeling.

Got the tat worked on this past Thursday. We managed to get as much as we could in the 5 hrs under the needle. It's pretty much completed. Just need to go back for a bit of detailing and some touchups. Very sore and kind of sucks I can't fish for the next week and a bit. The photos show how red my skin got. That's black/gray ink, not red ink on the fish body! Ouch, yes. Nick

Ya it does look pretty nasty eh? lol. Actually the colouring in of the fish didn't hurt all that bad. She used a big needle group (11 needles) which allowed her to whip through the big section very fast. The fly in the mouth and the leaf were torture though. Just constant going over and over the same spot with a small needle grouping. My skin wasn't accepting the ink as readily so she had to work it in which just meant more pain. Nick

Here's some recent pics of it all done. Still waiting on my friend to get into the studio for a shoot. Can't seem to coordinate schedules.
