Totally agreed. Haven't seen the dvd yet but I'm a big fan of Dick Proenneke. Have seen the PBS documentary 3 or 4 times and surprisingly the most amazing thing for me was the door hinges he carved up!

The film footage had been stored in his brothers basement for years until someone thought to do something with it after viewing it. The other interesting bit of information is that when he went off into the wilderness to build his home, he had lostb 60% vision in one eye and 40% in the other due to a workplace accident. Two years later a doctor flew in to check on him and his vision was nearly perfect. They were offering the DVD on a PBS fundraiser but I am sure they can be found in other places.
