I splurged and bought a good reel for my new 5wt setup. I picked one off ebay for $160 US with free shipping! Just received it and wow! What a piece of art. The frame is machined to perfection. First thing I noticed is the weight of the reel, or lack of weight. The carbon fibre spool weighs next to nothing. The silky smooth drag is very easy to adjust and has a minimum stop point. The drag knob is also carbon fibre and is large enough for use with gloves. Very impressed and can't wait to try it on bass this weekend. Nick

Not a bad deal.
Very nice reel, Have never fished one, but they sure do feel nice.
Where you bassin this weekend? Was thinking I might head out to the Whiteshell and try a lake or two (and a river).

Mmmm....the reel is amazing.
Tooth Lake smallies were no match for the reel. I didn't actually take any smallies to the reel but it was a pleasure to fish with. Can't wait to try it on some browns.
Just received the new rod for it. A Sage Fli 9'0" 5wt. Slapped the reel on it and wow! It's so bloody light! Definitely going to have to test it out this weekend somewhere.

UPDATE
I used this reel on my 5-weight Sage FLi over the end of the summer and fall, and I was not disappointed. I was able to land tough browns and rainbows with ease. Even a slow constant tug, the drag doesn't jerk or jitter.
I was totally over-powered by a big brown and this reel and rod combo allowed me to land a personal best with 4lb. tippet. A 23.5-inch male in full spawning dress!
I'm sold!
