I picked up a huge bag of these at Staples for $10.00. Sounds a bit silly but when Your boat is a row type, often You cast out Your leech and by the time You get moving, Your leech is in the weeds. These packing peanuts are enviro safe and bio-degrade in less than a minute but keep My fly on top and give Me the time I need to get moving when trolling My fly through the shallows. I just stick one on the hook itself and as the peanut melts My fly starts to sink. This was originally dragged over from My Carp bait fishing days to keep hook from tangling and sinking into the heavy weeds, but now I use it for flies. It beats dragging around a clump of weeds and having to stop the boat again to re-cast. I have even had fish take a shot at the peanuts, sadly My hook point was too deep into it. Just a tip. I think You can get smaller bags, or if You work in an office try wetting the packing peanuts, if they start to melt right away they are bio-peanuts. One peanut will keep even My sz 6 2X bead head bunny leeches a float.

They go a long way for sure, now if some genius would just flavor them into a nice light snack ahhhh they would be the perfect fly fishing companion. LOL
