I got the latest Cabelas paper flyer in the mail the other day and saw that they are selling the "Angler 3500 Auto/Manual inflatable PFD (page 13) at a great price ($70.00, which is $30.00 off). I bought this last year and have found it to be easy to wear over my vest (even if you look a little dorky) and I like the fact that it gives you the option of setting the PFD to "auto" mode (CO2 will fire automatically if the sensor gets submerged) or "manual" mode (you pull a cord to activate). I use the latter whenever I'm wade-fishing as I figure there will be more trip-ups and dunkings than situations where I need to be "saved".
When I first got this catalogue in the mail it kinda fooled me. I was going to head down to SIR but then I saw it was mail order only. So, add in shipping, duties, etc.
Anyways, fishing at Lockport and on a tube kinda got me thinking about having a buoyant backup and this one has fit well for me....TIM
