Hi Dale,
Yes ... and as you know he delivered the first rod (a Scott) in better-than-described condition. He sent me an e-mail last night saying that the 4 wt was still available, so I'm gonna buy it.

Aha!! It's here.
My custom-made TFO just arrived from California ... I didn't know that Canada Post delivered in the evening.
Lanny charged me $135 and the rod (a Ti Cr 4wt 9') was equipped with the best components available ... and the handwork is flawless.
Flawless.
I should add, however, that the rod did not arrive as advertised. The ad (on the FAOL For Sale BB) clearly specified that the rod was available only in the rod bag ... no tube ... a reasonable cost-cutting measure that TFO uses itself. When I pulled the rod out of the case, it was inside a brand-new very nice TFO rod case. Damn!!!!

What model of TFO blanks is the guy using? Sounds like you're really on to something here, Ron.

Hi Dale,
It's the Lefty Kreh Ti-Cr blank. Yes, I was lucky to make this connection.
I'm going to retire in July and probably move out to SW Alberta in the summer ... and I've been spending money (my share of the ex-marital home) like a drunken sailor. The ladies at the local post office have stopped asking for my ID !
Just picked up a Cabelas bundle today with a dozen L2L Reconnect leaders and a pair of gorgeous wool overalls. There's a nice little shop in the Crowsnest Pass ... the Crowsnest Angler ... and I'm just "amassing" stuff now that they don't have out there. If I'm going to "hang-out" in the area, I feel that I should shop there too ... lines and flies and such ...

Hi Dale, My new home is a on a ranch just below (three miles?) where the Oldman River flows out of the mountains through a place known as The Gap. A small cut-throat creek runs through the ranch (and by my house) and then empties into the Oldman (about 400 yards away) on my neighbour's land. Here's some info about the area ... bowcrow.tripod.com/flyfishing/id43.htmlIf you're ever up there, give me a shout. The school board allowed me to retire at the end of April, and I should be settled-in and acclimatized by summertime. "Guess I'll go out to Alberta ... weather's good there, in the fall .. " Ron

Hi Darrell, As much as I'd like you to believe that it's really my own ranch ... um ... no .. it's not gonna happen. I drive a 2001 Hyundai Accent. I'm actually the "overseer" of the place ... just being a human presence on the ranch (feeding the horses, ensuring the water and heat) when the real owner (a very straighforward look-in-your-eyes-when-he shakes-your-hand fellow) is living in Calgary. I get a modest but nice 3-bedroom home (with a front porch and hitching rails and a killer view) and <sigh> the run of the place for fishing and hunting. The owner enjoys both. It's very large (several thousand acres) and very wild ... two wolf packs (one well-behaved, and the other killing livestock) seem to have an uneasy relationship, and nobody goes into the woods unarmed. The folks on the neighbouring place do most of the cowboying. How? I've spent many summers out there, and it was just a case of being in the right place at the right time. Something like serendipity ... Best regards, Ron
