Okay seeing how no one wants to open this thread I thought I would. Haven't fished yet due to a gimpy arm but I can't stand it any longer. I'm heading to the Red at the Floodway tommorow. I have not heard a lot of reports from there yet but it sounds like the same senario we started out with last year. Taged into lots of cats around the island at the mouth of the floodway going to make that my first stop. See you guys there. <(((((><

Well no one showed up tonite I went over to the Floodway and checked out the water. Lots of baitcasters and jiggers on the reef and shore line. The pelicans had the other reef so i decided to try up at the locks. Nobody there either . I watched the water for a while and saw fish working along the flooded concrete wall down stream of the fish ladder. I fished for about 2 hours and managed to land only one fish. it was a nice 29 inch Carp which I picked up in some slack water tight against the shore. Took him on a Clouser Dace pattern. I had several on during the night but only landed one. My arms back in the ice bucket again.Just don't have any power in it to make much of a cast right now. Did a fair bit of roll casting tonight. Oh well at least the first fish of the year was a good one ;D <(((((((((((((((((((><

<((((>< <((((>< <((((>< <((((>< <((((>< ;D Fish where stacked up at the floodway today. Just got back from an evening of fishing. Couldn't fish the south side of the floodway so i whent to the north side. It's wadeble there and at least there is some room to cast. I was the only Fly Fisher out there tonite. Guess not to many Fly fishers in the Fly fishing club ;DCaught a mixed bag tonite. Carp, Drum,White Bass. Sauger and Goldeye. Most productive paterns where white. Didn't catch any cat fish but saw lots being caught all around me. I was working the shoreline where there is alot of flooded bushes and shrubs. As I waded along the shore I scared up hundreds of Carp that where tight into the flooded bush. it was neat to see all the Carp boiling around me as I waded. Lockport is going to be good till the middle of July by the looks of it so when i get my arm out of te ice bucket I'm heading back ;D ;D ;D, <((((><

Hi John.
I would have been out last night - but had to take a last minute trip to Thompson. I'm starting to realize a travel rod might be a good idea. Anyway, work got in the way.
I think I'll try to make it out there this weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday. I guess you have to be there early if you want any space?
Maybe I should put it off until next Tuesday.

I'm looking at Sunday morning if the rain on Saturday is not to bad. I also have a wedding on Saturday so iot will depend on when the champane wears of as to wether I'm out there early morning or mid morning ;D The road into the north side can get a little muddy if we get a lot of rain. The <((((>< will be there wether we are or not. I really blew my arm out again on Tuesday so I think I'll switch to a 6 wt and smaller flies. The carp seemed to be doing a lot of grubbing allong the flooded brush so I'm sure nymphs would work. Hope to see some of you guys out there.

Can't make it tonight Robert - yard work has reared it's ugly head.
I'm still shooting for Sunday morning though.
Later,
