...to get Vista?
I won't for my DAW as those things are so fussy and my PC is running fine.
But any of you gonna make the 'upgrade'?

I have Vista and let me just say "Don't bother"... Not much better in terms of performance, just another cash grab for Microsoft.

Rob,
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium Edition... I gotta agree with the rest of them... I am sticking with my MAC G5 anytime I am doing serious freelance work or editing. There are a couple of cool features but I am honestly not recommending it to anyone who is already using Windows XP or 2000 (Which happens to be the most secure of all the Windows versions).

I have a really good iMAC G3 kicking around at home that I may be willing to sell. It is running OSX and is fully loaded with all the latest applications. PM me and maybe we can work something out.

Hey backwoods; you can use Linux no probs. I run SmoothWall Express on my DSL router and I have no probs at all. Any DSL client that does PPPOE (such as roaring penguin) will connect for you. Just as you don't use the MTS install CD to get a PPPOE client, don't look there for a Linux client.

I just bought a new computer and Vista Home Premium came with it. It has more visual appeal than XP and it seems to start up faster but it really doesn't run things any better. It actually seems to do a few LESS things than XP.

Dale; it has been my experience that when Microsoft is ready to release a new version of its Windows operating system, the existing ones seem to start to bog down a little bit more with each software update. Then all of a sudden their new products work "faster" than existing products. If you want an interesting test, take a clean system that can run Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, and install each one by itself without any service packs and/or patches, and see which boots the quickest. I think it will be the Windows 2000 config. Just my experiences, however, and as such, my opinion (in case Billy Boy's sheister lawyers are trolling).
NB; sheister lawyer? Is that redundant?
