Heh. Just try that when you got a wife! You could always cut off the tail and freeze or dry it. Just a thought

Hahahah...
Cut off the tail and throw away the rest otherwise your mom will probably freak out on you... the best hair is in the tail. Good point on the wife... if I ever tried pulling over for some road kill with my wife in the car she would probably drive away without me!
James.

Use the fur on whatever you wish. I love squirrel tail hair for nymph tails. Careful on the squirrel or picking up furbearing critters on the highway though. You actually need a permit from Man. Conservation to pick up road kill ................... or - as I've been told - a closed mouth gathers no foot ... that said - I saw 2 racoons taken out a few miles from home. Momma and last years kit ........... No flies yet - fresh take-out. But ... as no borax at home to start to clean/cure the skins .......... they remained for the crows (and yes - I was alone in the van). As soon as the foot comes off the pedal I hear "Not while I'm in the van" ......... ;D Squirrel tails are easiest to cure / clean. Cut off (snap off) tail at rump. Take about a tablespoon of salt in the palm of one hand - take bloody stump with other hand, and rub stump in the salt until no more salt is abosorbed. Let it dry for a week or so - then store in zip-lok.
