Took my oldest son (14) up the Red today for some ice fishing. Started out at the Power Plant at the bend south of Selkirk - lots of shacks, lots of vehicles on the ice. Ice there about 18" thick. Not one bite, after two hours and five holes. Then Lockport, west side. A few other people. No shacks, ice about a foot thick, but signs still up near shore warning about thin ice. No bites there either. Gave up in disgust. Maybe will try Whiteshell in a couple of weeks. Ken

Ken - 2 sons went early (8:00 AM) yesterday to Lockport. Fished closer to East side, just past where floodway empties. Limit of saugers and a few walleye. Released one walleye about 6 lbs. They have had some success before in that area but had never caught any walleye that large. Plain white jigs with emerald shiners. More ice fishing shacks starting to appear in that part of the river.
