Howdy,
A few months ago I was poking around on an American FF website (can't remember which one) and came across a thread talking about the kind of polarized sunglasses that can be worn on top of regular glasses.
One or two people raved about a particular brand that I'd actually seen on the Cabelas website. Hmmm ... that's a good sign. Killer guarantee.
I contacted the company and asked if they had distibutors in Canada and learned that there was a dealer in Winnipeg.
That was months ago and I wasn't able to get to the store because they're closed on Saturdays and I work outside the city. Today, on holidays (I'm a teacher), I got there.
And I tried on a few pair ... they have all sizes.
I needed the polarized versions (all they had in stock were non-polarized) but (while the salesperson was phoning-in my order for the polarized glasses) I was so impressed that I said, "I'll also take these ones right now."
They were that good. I've had several pairs of Fit-Over style sunglasses over the last several years ... and they were always barely-comfortable ... head-in-a-vise ... squishy-nose ... gougy ears ...
These $60 Cocoons at Oakley Optical 'way out on Portage are not cheap but they are awesome.
Really.

thank you for that Ron - have been looking myself. Will have to make the drive from NK to check them out.
Do they not normally carry the polarized version or just out of stock? was "Cocoons" a model or just your descriptive phrase?

A quick clarification ... a wise old fisher looked at the Cocoons today and pointed-out that they were definitely polarized. Not the best colour for fishing ... but definitely polarized. And comfortable too!
And then when I got home I had a super-fast e-mail response from the manufacturer ... all of their shades are definitely polarized ... which I had asked them about earlier this morning.
The salesgirl seems to have made an honest mistake. And I'll now have a pair for snow-shoeing ... and (next week) a pair for fly-fishing.

Hi Guys, Some good news ... I was in S.I.R.'s new store earlier today ... and they have every possible size (a good fit is crucial) and shade of Cocoons ... and they cost just $45.95 ... I paid 'way too much ($60 x 2) at Oakley Optical a while ago but that was the only Manitoba source that was mentioned by Cocoons in California. Ron

Picked up a pair today - they are very comfortable and definitely seem to be a quality item.
Thanks again Ron
