The outside of the chest pack features two mesh pockets for tippet spools, a removable fly patch and two D-rings. Two large zipper-closed pockets will hold a variety of fly boxes and other accessories. The main pocket has three interior mesh pockets and two side straps that hold the top in place and create a platform type of area to tie on flies and new tippet. The platform section has a velcro base so, if you chose to, you could back some cell foam with velcro and have a removable insert. You could have multiple inserts for different fly situations. But it fits 2-3 medium fly boxes or 1 large box. Both front pockets have dual zippers with easy-grab tabs. The back sports two large storage pockets back pack style. The main compartment closes with a zipper, while the outer, flap-covered pocket secures with a buckle and a strap. And both the front pack and rear panel are lined with mesh. Up sides: Carries a lot of stuff (I mean a lot say good bye to your back pack on shore). The sides are open so as not to inhibit proper casting. Very adjustable to sit low or high tight or loose. Downsides: If, like me, you use pin on retractors for your snips/forceps then there is no real place to pin. There are versions of this item where there is no back pack or the pack is removable. This one does no but I got it for $25. ( regularly $39). The down side of this, it really can't be used in a float tube. The Cabelas item that does have a removable back is twice the price. But is of the same basic design. The William Joseph version is $139.
