Was curious as to what patterns have had success on east blue. I understand that deep water techniques work and that fishing at low light periods is also a good time to fish but was just curious as too what the forage base is.

Couldn't get much of a more challenging lake? (perhaps Laurie?) I seem to have tried every pattern..... that doesn't work on EB? I agree with you - deep water and little to no light is what many say works best. Earl likes to fish it from 10:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.
Some say the white mudler patterns work best. I seem to be stuck on olive leech patterns. Forage base at that level is anyones guess? Perhaps you should "Pic Stu's Brain"?

Some of the best fishing i've had at East Blue has been during snow storms and heavy wind conditions. A chop on the water is usually a better than dead calm. Best fishing I've had during these conditions are on the flats at the the south east side of the lake. The fish don't get spooked when the water is broken by the chop and during over cast or squally days they will come up from the drop offs and work the shallows. When the water gets stired up it dislodges a lot of invertabre from the carpet vegitation on the bottom. it's like chum in the water. Best technique is to drift from the deeper water onto the flats. Pick up when you get close to shore and move back out to deeper water and start another drift. Good spring and fall techniques. During the summer fishing at night is probably your best time. Spending a moonlite night on a lake like East Blue can be quite an enjoyable experience. Now has anyone got any good techniques for West Blue

Have to agree with Caddisguy on the techniques and time of year. The patterns that have worked well for me are !) Yellow marabou muddler 2) Dragon fly nymph ( olive green and black dubbing mixture) 3) Red River Dace 4) During the mayfly hatches a size 6 beige Montana Have fun tying.
