I was informed that the Tiger Trout (1200 fish) stocking in McHugh was done at/with the request/encouragment of the MFFA. I was wondering if anyone else had heard the same and if there was anything resembling a rational. Given that there is evidence of bait use there already, and increasing pressure ( both regular and ice fishing)there- why on earth would anyone advocate stocking with an easy to catch, aggressive fish that will only increase pressure once the word gets out of their availabliity. Sad to see such a wonderfull Brown Trout fishery being played with for ? reason.. Lyons/Hunt would have been much more sensible places to experiment .

I don't know if the MFFA had a hand in it but I am with you. Stocking the lake with Franken Fish is as far away from what I would like to see there. I didn't mind the Char as they would only be a spring fall divergance but............. [glow=red,2,300]OMG [/glow] 1,200 fish.........say good by to Mchugh browns

Well I can not tell a lie it was me who infromed Will about the Tiger Trout and if I remember correctly the reason was to do further research on these fish . If there is any one on the board who is with the MFFA and can shed some light on this topic I hope they will.....KIM

I guess no-one from the MFFA knows anything about this or they just dont frequent the board - short sighted on two counts it seems:)))

I'm a card carrying MFFA member. I attended last Tuesday's meeting which was a presentation on Trophy hunting in Danelli National Park . Brian Joynt who gave the presentation is a Trophy Hunter (Nikon) and showed us some beautifull shots of Doll Sheep and cromatic fall scenery was stunning. The Tiger slammers who , must be Cananites, seem to be quite prevelant in the club as well where voicing there angst about putting Tigers in McHugh. Bruce Cameron who is the Conservation Chairman said the rational for the hatchery to put them in McHugh was because it could be easily monitered for success of stolking Tigers. McHugh already has special regulations ie. artificial only and 1 Trout limit and the 1000 Tigers stolked would not displace the Browns stolked over the years. It's kind of funny that no one seemed to have a problem with the Rainbows that where dumped there a number of years back or the Spar which are in there now and are getting well over 20 inches Anyway that's the poop from the group ;D Go Tigers Go <(((><

in the years that i have fished Mchugh, i cant honestly say i,ve seen hide nor hare of a rainbow:)). The spar being char related is actually quite exciting, notwithstanding they would occupy a different niche than the browns , could perhaps be a unspoken part of the strategy to produce these )))))) www.frs-scotland.gov.uk/FRS.Web/Delivery/display_standalone.aspx?contentid=888cananites- lol i,ve never been against tigers per se- just FOR a focused world class brown trout fishery:))) which mchugh had/has the potential to be
