HOw is the walkin, room for a tube, any tips on fishing it? I hear it is kind of feature-less.

The hike in is not too bad at all. There is a bit of muck where the ATV's have chewed the trail up, but if you are walking in your waders it's usually no biggy. There is a way around most of the muck - when you get to the quarry go up onto the quarry and follow the trail until it joins up to the main trail.
The trail takes you in to the launch area which is sandy and a very easy location to get into the water except for working your way around the inconsiderately left boats. I have fished along the shore until the rocky shelf you encounter if you head left, but I usually head to the right. I have worked my way to the portage into Horseshoe ( a very long tube trip). Most of my success has been in the shallower water and right up against the various cliff faces. I have caught the odd pike and they have been decent sized.
The sandy region can be easily waded for a good distance in either direction from the launch and while there is not a lot of obvious structure it seems it does not take much to draw the bass. I recall casting to a single reed stalk that was about waist deep and catching a nice one.
I don't know if there are as many trophy sized fish to be had as there might be elsewhere, but I have enjoyed the lake very much. I usually have it all to myself, except for the otters (and beavers, herons and ospreys). Most people I've seen head on to Horseshoe.
The lake can have a nasty algae bloom in the later part of the summer, but was quite clear when I was there two weekends ago.
