Yes say hello to a new number on your date book. Rick already started a fishing in the new year thing so i won't do that. But i will say that my purpose in starting this board/club/internet support group for us weirdo manitobans who own fly rods, was for learning and promoting the sport. I am not sure how much impact we have had in promoting the sport but boy has there been some learning going on! With the possiblities of tying nights or casting clinics we can learn amongst ourselves and maybe some promoting too. One thing is for sure the whole is greater than the sum of our parts. Although we do have a few members who could just hold court here (with their knowlege of fly fishing/tying/Manitoba) it has been (and will always be) a group effort. One guy asks, a few answer and everyone learns a little about a lot of different things. The things i have learnedWell this is multi- tiered. How to build web sites To be more (a little ) tolerant of those who don't fly fish (yet!) or think of fly fishing as "just another way to catch fish" That almost any fish in almost any kind of water can and do fall for "flys" I have re-leraned that people who fly fish or are on their way to fly fishing are moral and ethical people as well as anglers. Here's to a short winter with lots of snow, an slow but early thaw, decent water levels all year and a loooong fall. rb

Robert: I'm glad you started this thread. There is nothing like having knowledge and being able to share it. There is always something to learn no matter how much you know. If everyone remembers to share this will be a dynamite site and forum. Keep it going.

Robert,The things I've learned are there alot of us(flyfishers)out there in good ole Manitoba. That I still know how to make myself look like an idot(taking a fall in the Red River, that was a great way for you to meet me and also hooking your line)and still be able to laugh at myself while doing idot like things. That I've still got alot to learn, the NFFC'S taught me that and that I had has good a shot at it as anyone there.I strongly urge others to give it a shot and finally that I'm looking forward to meeting the guys that are on the board and spending sometime fishing and learning with all of you....Kim
