Looking at the 14 forecast for my weekend fishing, it looks like by 14 days from now many lakes may have ice forming. Olha, MB has some daytime temps not breaking 0 and highs for the week are +1 lows to -7. San Clara much the same, and at elevation it freezes quicker. Boissevain daytime highs are all in the pluses, but night time gets down to -6. West Hawk highs of +2 and lows at -4. Hopefully the wind goes away for a bit and I can get one last trip somewhere before the gear gets put away again.

Good luck on timing (sincerely). My brother and I were fishing twin in October, and came back the next day to find ½ inch of ice the next morning, and she was all locked up for the winter. She goes that fast.

I have had the same happen. Fished beautiful one day and the next was enough ice that I could not throw a rock through it.

Rivers will be open for a while yet, hopefully it warms up a bit again.

I managed a few days fishing in the rain last year. Getting a fly through the ice might be a little harder.

Thanks to Covid19, my annual plans to fish Parklands were derailed. From making up time for time away being essentially shut down in the spring from Covid19, to dealing with spare times away on weekends with handling an estate, managing my acreage, usual fishing buddy having to bail on this year's Parklands trip - fall has passed by too quick, and I really should have valued the forced time off in the spring!
The weather on days I did get away weren't too friendly, but did offer me a few hours escape at a time. Did manage to have a smile on my face after catching some browns at William.
Next year - time to plan for spring fishing! Got all winter to tie some flies.
