Trying to tie some Rolled Muddlers and I need red thread. Went to Cabela's and not only did they not have red, they didn't have any thread. The bunk that kept all fly tying and fishing accessories is reduced by ½. Some how tying thread didn't make the cut.

I dont understand their ordering system but it sucks big time. I have to stock up in Calgary or order online. Wish they would smarten up!

Feel the same way. I know we are a small niche group but jeez.

Guys the product is coming in just be patient getting some wapsi stuff for sure and some other product from Gaspe. I know it has taken a while but we were in a lurch with Superfly getting out of tying material. It will be there in a bit.

Lots of red thread at TFH-both Uni and Ultra. And not to get too political, but it also doesn't hurt that that TFH is a Canadian company, rather than being owned by a multi-billionaire American like BPS.

I though Cabala would improve when Bass Pro took over but it remained the same. TFH replenish their stock when they are sold out while Cabala gets one order a year then remains out of stock the rest of the year. Theres no excuse except poor management. I’m still hoping things will turn around as it’s good to have a couple of options. Rant over...

Ok not to sound like a know it all but since I work there and try to get new product in with this switch I find bashing Cabela's not to friendly at all. I can tell you there is a lot more coming. True we will not get as much as the Alberta stores but what we are going to get is some really nice product. There is some marabou in right now that is amazing, as well as some new chenille that no one here has seen before. Along with these items we are getting some Semperfli Nano Silk which far exceeds any thread on the market. This thread is not in the store as of yet but will be here shortly. Imagine spinning deer body hair with a 12/0 thread. To let everyone know we do not order once a year we do replenish as soon as possible. Before saying anything try finding out the facts about what is occurring before assuming the worst.

My intent was not to bash Cabela....love the store and spend a lot of money there. But if you read the first post...the store is totally out of thread...how can this happen? I’ve spent 41 years in retail and I call this a problem. I would appreciate you taking this up with the fly fishing category manager like I have. Also your sales would increase if you would price your flies as per my request. I appreciate your effort to improve things for the fly fisherman in Winnipeg. Thank you also for giving us a heads up on new products coming soon.

As I have said before all the fly tying materials from Superfly were sent to the Alberta stores because they had more need of it unfortunately that included all the thread in the store. We are getting replacements in the near future and the buyers are doing their best at getting the product in. I can say that Bass Pro has delayed some supplies coming to us and hopefully with the work the category managers are doing we should see some new product shortly. As for the new product that has come in so far we are sold out of half of it already. This may be a gong show for a while but let me assure you it will improve. Josh from H.O. has been working like crazy trying to get material back into the store and with a little luck we should see it soon.

Thanks for pricing your flies..very sad to see the fly fishing space cut in half...guess the sales did not warrant the space.
