Wondering if anyone else suffers from casting elbow or commonly known as tennis elbow. Apparently it’s its an issue for some of us especially those who also play guitar. its becoming more and more of a problem especially casting a heavier weight rod and after landing some big carp. Looking for ideas to help reduce the pain other than giving up fishing. Its starting to affect my sleep and it doesn’t help that I fish almost every day.

As a professional guitar player and fly rodder I can tell you it is no fun but both can be fixed. The issue is usually some error in form. Not just the elbow the elbow is the symptom. With the guitar it is many factors including; the angle the guitar sits away from you, the angle of your wrist on the fret board the way you hold your pick etc.
The fly rod can be a little easier. You can change your form and rely on what your arm wants to do vs what you are forcing it to do. But one quick fix is to stop false casting. Unless you are drying your fly or shooting line, the false cast is a waste of energy and time.
Tennis elbow/tendinitis is not genetic and can be fixed. I play guitar and drums for a living and do not have it. I had my elbow rebuilt after shattering it and fish 30-50 times a year and don't have it.
