Not updated as of 2016 now updated to include 2018. Stocking ReportsThe numbers for the previously ignored eastern lakes, look really good and hope they are matched, in years to come, to account for predation and general mortality.

I keep bugging them about it, maybe they got tired? Note a bunch of biggies tossed into Lyons this spring. Hunt was slow recently, but does have fish. I was there on a hot and sunny day though.

Yes because they are practically new lakes at this point and the climate has changed so much I am going to approach them this fall like I have never been there before. Even got contour maps for them

The map interface software is not intuitive and you have to look a parameters separately Here is the last couple of years at Patterson.
Year Species Number Size 2018 WALLEYE 2500 18+ cm 2017 RAINBOW TROUT 2000 18+ cm 2016 BROWN TROUT 7000 12-15 cm 2016 RAINBOW TROUT 18000 12-15 cm Interesting to note the walleye. I guess an attempt to placate the ice holes and bucket biologists from effing the lake up like they have done else where in the "parkland'
Tokaryk Got skipped last year
Year Species Number Size 2018 RAINBOW TROUT 5000 18+ cm 2016 RAINBOW TROUT 22000 12-15 cm

If you're looking into things, could you also figure out why there was there was only 2000-3000 little fish put in those lakes out east. Every time I am out that way I see lots of people on the easily accessible lakes, they certainly attract folks and get fishing pressure. 2000 per year seems low when you see the amount of people on a couple of those lakes in all seasons. The big fat loons I saw on Hunt and Lyons lately likely knock those numbers down, I'll assume they are better fishers than me. The point of this rambling? What is the science behind the number of fish stocked? What is the state of the lake before determining what to stock, and how do the numbers of fish get allocated to certain lakes? I nag for my own personal perceptions, but maybe an education as to how these numbers are determined would be helpful for me and others. Will the big brook trout dropped in Lyons have much impact on the perch? Would there be a reason for putting those fish in there?

I do realize the constraints that the hatchery is under and the struggle just to get fish out. Please don't take previous post as slagging the efforts, and I do realize there is likely not a huge budget to do assessments of the lakes, and we should be happy that some fish get put here and there. Any info provided by those in the know of how this system works though is helpful, so I can adjust my support and whining appropriately. If lakes are only stocked based on how much is heard from anglers, I'd be happy to speak up to support the eastern MB/whiteshell lakes. Regardless, appreciative of all efforts and support to enure stocking happens and there are fish in the lakes in MB.

When they give Lat and Long is that the stocking site? I'd like to stay a bit away from the exact stocking site on some of these trout rivers. thanks

FYI I use to work in the Parkland and eastern region Manitoba Fisheries managing these lakes...I went through rigorous efforts in order to stock the right species into the right lakes and developed assessment protocols for such in the Parkland area where most of our trout are stocked...the eastern region was a little tougher due the dramatically diff lake types and tons of indigenous species of fish which rarely get along with the 'exotic' trout...there is also few 'vacant' lakes in the east (by that I mean lakes without large bodied indigenous species) to develop and/or manage...I have been retired since 2016 so contact Bruno Bruederlin in Brandon (724-4116) and Derek Kroeker in the Lac du Bonnet (345-1450) and see what they do now

Stocking information is valuable. Glad that walleye in Patterson was a typo. I heard Bruno has retired. Might be wrong about that.
