Seeing as we're just over 2 days away from the opening season and me becoming ever impatient, I messed around with some editing software with some footage that I had from an outting last year with a buddy. Turned out to be one of our best days that year to, so I had to cut out a lot of the drum footage to keep some of the more interesting catfish runs in the video, but it still turned out a staggering 18 minutes long, anyways enjoy

Awesome video bud! We'll have to hit the Red sometime soon...
And just so you guys know, dropped by lockport just now and lots of BIG carp and cats in the shallows. Might have to drop by there super early Saturday morning before work to cast a line. The wait continues...

Water levels on the river are high, no wading in there just yet but the floodway is fine. Island popped up in the middle and no current. Saw lots of cats and carp surfacing in there.

Update on the Red: water rose a bit, where the big rocks were once clearly visible there now partially submerged. The floodway is fine though, if anything the water went down and I noticed a few more islands pop up down near where it opens to the Red.
Tons of catfish, carp and suckers hanging around in the shallows. Their fins were breaking the surface and some were breaching. Oh! One more day! Can't wait...

Awesome video bud! Just moved down to the area, counting down the days to get out and try for one of those cats.
Whats the wading like out there? A few times it looked like you waded right across. Ill be fishing alone and driving 2 hours to get the Lockport so any advice goes along ways!
Great forum and awesome fishing, I wish you the same luck this year!

Welcome to the area, and thanks! The wading really varies out there, specifically in the spring. The water can rise/drop day to day dependent on weather and wind. The water level in the video was abit over it's typical lowest point so crossing is possible, but it can also get much higher, so always wade with caution especially with some deep pockets that drop off rapidly in there. Good luck out there.
