Hi everyone,
I'm organizing a casting evening for our MFFA members. It will be on Tuesday, 09 May, with a weather alternate on Wednesday, 17 May. Start time is 18:00 and we should be done between 21:00 and 22:00. Location will be Assiniboine Park. We will have an area marked with distance markers up to 100 feet and targets. The intent is to loosen up the casting muscles and give an opportunity for our beginners and any member wanting to work on/improve/correct something to get coaching and advice from our more experienced casters. In my email to our members I listed basic cast, distance, avoiding tailing loops/wind knots, single haul, double haul and what am I doing wrong as options to pick from. There are more. Some will just practice on their own. After the coaching and practice period we will have a friendly casting competition for anyone to join in. Nothing fancy: casting to targets, distance casting and possibly a few trick casts; no complicated rules, no prizes, no arguments, but teasing will be allowed. Participants will need to bring their equipment for the first part, and the MFFA rods will be used for the competition. We want to open the event to non-MFFA members, but I would like to first get a level of interest. If interested just PM me (Marcel Duval) at mrcldvl@mts.net. Just provide your name and say "interested".
