For those of you in the areas of stocked lakes that open up on the early side (LDB Ponds or William Lake for example), please keep us posted on water to ice ratio. I am looking for a place to get the flies wet early this year, but being in the Peg, don't want to take the drive to find an ice covered lake. Thanks in advance to those who can do this for us.

I was at LDB ponds a week ago just to check it out. The shoreline was ice free with water flowing up on the ice. I'll drop by there this weekend to see the progress. Should be a quick melt with this warm weather, I'm just itching to cast a fly and try a float tube out.

An update on LDB ponds. There is open water around the aerator as well as the dock and launching areas. Lots of ice piled up in the southern half of the pond in the small bays but the wind and warm weather should make short work of it. Also a bit of ice in the northern half.
I'm thinking I'll probably drop by there early Friday morning to try the float tube out and to desperately wet a fly.

Lyon's update Lots of what ice hole fishers call 'rotten ice' but we call ice off. Might be fishing before the end of the month.

Drove by Antons Lake on Wed the 12th in evening. Water open in center areas probably where aerators are. Still ice to shore on South side truck stop area. Ice fisherman was out sitting on pail. Didn't get a good view of north side but ice looked like starting to creep away from shore.

Milner Ridge pond is open, dropped by there today to check it out. Didn't see any fish activity though but take into account that this pond hasn't been stocked since 2013 and I doubt any have survived since then. When I was leaving two guys were heading down the trail with there rods to try it out. Idk, maybe I'm mistaken? Maybe there are a few rainbows still roaming in there, maybe some giants...
