I'm betting the levels are fairly low. Anyone get out and take some pics of the water levels this weekend?

Just got back from there. Spillway is reallly low, I only managed a small pike there. Seeing it won't be getting better any time soon, I decided to try to get out into the main channel for my first time. As I was wading in, they were closing the last of the gates, and about 20 minutes later most of the rocky shoals were visible. Saw a large group of carp swim off when the water level was dropping and I had one swim into me as I was wading. Tons of cats splashing around. I hooked into 1 fish, but he broke me off midway (fouled carp?). The water level was really fluctuating, when I left, all the shoals were submerged again, but it should stabilize pretty soon since they were messing around with the gates.

I'm going to try to go up there tomorrow evening (May 17th) to see if I can catch anything. Weather looks promising. I'll probably be wearing an orange Kubota hat, and brown neoprene waders if anyone else is there.

Went out yesterday and the fishing was slow but the guys I was fishing with managed to get some fish. Brian Woods caught a Carp and a Cat in the main channel. The young gentleman I was fishing with caught his Carp in the spillway and I managed a Carp and Cat in the spillway. There were tons of huge Carp in the spillway and it was a blast trying to fish these fish in 6 inches of water. Tons of fun.

Well, didn't find the fish I was hoping for, but did manage a nice size drum at the end of the evening. Almost got skunked. It was nice to meet a few new folks down there too. Here's what the water levels looked like looking down into the spillway. Attachments:

Well, the weekend couldn't be off to a better start. The fishing had really picked up on the main channel. Landed 1 Cat, Lost 1 cat, landed about 4 drum, lost about 7 drum, and 1 fish I couldn't quite determine what it was, but either way, it was fun. I think I out fished all the shore anglers to which was a plus

Sounds promising, I will have to get the gear out and dust off Itchie and get him damp. Cheers Ron

Club had an outing there last night. Many nice fish were caught, including a 36 inch kitty and a huge 29 inch drum. My best was a 32 inch channel cat, photographed by Gerald: Attachments:

I was at the spillway on Friday. Saw many nice sized carp swimming around but only hooked into one. Broke off shortly afterwards so I'm assuming it was foul hooked.

Oh yah, there's some good carp out there. I was out at the outting yesterday, which was a really cool experience , and caught a average sized carp, and had another one break me off when my line somehow got tangled around my reel handle when it went off on a run, but I got my personal best Carp out there on Monday which was incredibly cool to get on a fly rod! Black DDH was the ticket for all the species.

Spillway has seen some fish caught, but flow is down and levels low.

It took a white minnow imitating nymph. That was an epic fight. Good job and keep it up.

Never waded into the main channel. Is there a specific path one should take? Always wanted to be out there but wasn't sure how and when to do it.

Fished the floodway today, one small drum on a nymph and a larger, 55 cm drum on a larger brown stonehead. Foul hooked many carp, lots of them still in there. Some really nice ones swam around me.

Damn, I gotta try out there. Never waded into the main channel. Always fly fished the floodway with good results. Petroh, were you just tossing a caddis fly or something else?

Just a simple DDH did the trick for all the species. The caddis would only be effective for rising fish like carp or goldeye, but I didn't get a chance to try it out to test my luck on the school of rising carp.
