Fishing on the east side of the Red at Lockport is awsome. The water levels have dropped and the Cats were slashing at baitfish on the surface. Had a buddy out fron Saskatchewan and he landed 2 Cats today. One on a 5 wt.!!!!!!! Crazy guy.

Thanks for the heads up Stu. Can you fish right from shore or do you need to wade in a bit?

Went down with Mike today and boy was the fishing SLOOOOOOOW!!!!!! Had 1 drum and 1 white bass. Mike had a big fish on but it wrapped around something on the bottom and it was gone. But I did manage a new speies on the DDH. Can you believe it a Sturgeon that was about 3 feet long. Unbelieveable but what is worse I was treating this fish with kid gloves and it took off on a run and the hooked pulled out. Mike was right there and the fish jumped right in front of him. Cool but like I said it was a LDR. About 20 minutes later I fouled hooked anothe Sturgeon and landed that onr. All I can say is that Sturgeon are really cool when they jump.

Nice fish! It's awesome to see more and more sturgeon being pulled out. And cool that it was on a fly rod.

Went back to the Red yesterday with Kim Russell and we had a great time. It was nice to see him casting a fly again. They had one of the middle gates opened and wouldn't you know it it changed the current flow on the east side. The water is still a little high to wade out to the island and it was difficult castin 80-90 ft to reach the current seam where the Cats were holding. After fishing foe a couple of hours I had to take a little break. It was refreshing to say the least. Landed one Cat for the day and it felt great having that fish on. Caught it on a brown DDH.
