Hello everybody, I'm new here and just wanted to say hi.
I've been fishing for a few years now and I'm just getting in to fly fishing so I'll be here looking for answers to my noobish questions. Eventually I hope to be a helpful addition to the community.
So Hello and good fishing!

Just an update.
I picked up the Shakespeare "catch more fish" fly fishing kit. It was on sale and seems like a good place to start. Can't go wrong for the price.
So far I've taken it out to the field to practice casting and I seemed to be able to get a decent cast out after not too many tries. I definitely have to practice more to get the technique down consistently. I would've practised longer but the mosquitoes were getting crazy and I forgot the bug spray.
so far I'm rather happy with it and I can't wait to take it out to the water.

Welcome aboard! what species are you planning on chasing on the fly and on what water? Lots of experience on this board willing to share their knowledge.

Thanks.
I'm gonna be primarily fishing for small pike. But not limiting myself to that. I'll probably end up doing a lot of my fishing in the Seine river in winnipeg. but plan on taking it out to some lakes too once I've got a handle on fly fishing.
probably also use this for goldeye and bullheads, etc, other small winnipeg fish. Would love to take it to some trout waters too.
once I'm a little better I'll probably get myself a couple more rods at heavier weights for bigger pike, drum, carp, etc.

It get's addicting... Welcome & I can see you already caught your first one! Thank you, and it definitely is addicting. I find myself wanting to learn as much as possible. Sometimes I have to remind myself to take it slow and start with the basics first.
