Fished the spillway from 5:30-9:30 this morning and it turned out pretty good. Around eighteen or so goldeye non over 12" they were all caught on an orange and black leech style fly. But goldeye aren't so exciting especially compared to this, Not much beats a fly caught Buffalo (in my opinion) especially when the fight is like you hooked the back of a freight train. he went well into the backing multiple times and performed a few surface rolls. measured 30.5" and was caught on the same fly as the goldeye. surprised that both the goldeye and the buffalo would take such a large fly, the fly was 5.5" long. Oh yeah and I hooked what I assume was a cat but he unhooked himself.

I went today. Fished the north side around noon. Good action with carp and lots of drum. All on dark leech patterns stripped in. I had the beach practically to myself!

Wow… Goldeye on a 5" fly - they're more aggressive than I thought. Thanks for the report!

Nice, how is the water level now. I caught one of these about 6 weeks ago on a crayfish pattern. I didn't know what it was, it looked like strange looking carp, or carp sucker hybrid. Now that you mentioned the name i googled it. Another species on a fly added to my list.

Thanks for the info, might head out there tomorrow morning, mornings were more productive for me this year. It was about 25-27 inch, I didn't measure it.

What time did you get there Bobby? I went at around 7:30-10:30 P.M. and started hammering small Sauger at around 9:00. Must of caught about 40 sauger along with 2 white bass and a goldeye. All of the fish were tiny with the biggest being 13". All were caught on a # 12 hybrid carp fly by john Montana.
