Twas the night before Christmas, And all across the land, Not a fly rod was casting, it's too cold, on the hands.
The fly lines would crack, the tippet would break You'd be snapping off flies, Becoming irate.
So instead you do heed that nagging advice, spin up some deer hair And jam your thumb in the vice.
The pain's not too bad, The throbbing had stopped, That #4 hook was barbless, It slid out with a pop.
That's it, tying's done, You fumble a hook, To the carpet it fell, now lodged in your foot.
Barbless it's not, to the root it did go, You numb your mind with some scotch, and bury your foot in the snow.
I'm sure somewhere else, These words were used, Ears were sure burning, Human speech was abused.
With one foot tore apart, And a hand on the mend, You parked the vice and the fur, Until you'd try it again.
Off to the kitchen you go, to get some cubes in your glass, Your bloody foot is sure slippery, And you land on your ..... butt.
No more, you're all done, The tying is tough. No rod building now, My first aid is rough.
With a laugh on my tongue, I hope you smile all night, Merry Christmas to all, And to all a good night.

Thanks for bringing this back for those of us who missed it the first time. Creatively humorous! Happy holidays to all and may the year ahead include many days with fly rod in hand.
