Code of conduct for Fly Fishing Manitoba Forum
First off I want to say you guys are great while other boards have to deal with flair ups, thinly veiled threat s among members we just sail along being polite and pretty respectful.
Having said that I think I have become too lax in a number of ways about non fly rod stuff creeping in. I have tried to be cool but recent events outside of our community have spurred me to be a little more vigilant. Not so much to deal with the now, as I have stated we don’t have those issues, but more as an ounce of prevention.
Not accidentally I am posting and administering this during ice hole season.
While getting rid of and/or limiting members may seem like I am trying to make this the most unpopular board on the net I would remind you that I/we are in this for the sport of fly fishing and not generating revenue or boosting social club membership.
If I wanted to make money I would not pick fishing. There are plenty of folks out there trying to get a sliver of the 'fame & fortune' in outdoor pursuits in Manitoba with many willing to step over their own mother to do it.
1. So no more ‘I couldn't use the fly rod because of wind/rain/kids/Martians so I went with the spin rod’ type of posts. If you didn't catch the fish on a fly rod post it somewhere else. If you catch something unique that way and want to share maybe wait till a discussion on that body of water or that species of fish.
2. No pictures of those fish either whether it's you, your buddy, from a trip or your avatar (profile pic)
While many boards out there (not necessarily MB) require the use of given names I wouldn't go that far but...
3. no more 1-3 letter or all consonant screen names or random letter and numbers. It is really hard to tell the difference between RW and RM. Or pronounce *&yuH((
I don’t care if you use your dog’s name or call yourself master fly. Something we can remember and identify with.
Stick with Nouns and Verbs
Other than that keep up the cool good work sharing and caring about fly fishing and I’ll keep deleting the lurkers.
Robert
