Here's another s.b.s. video from the chironomid king himself--his parkland (/midnight fire) dubbed leech.

Thanks andy for posting that! This one will be on top of the box I couldnt catch what he said for the body dubbing its a mix of something I heard the part of the mix of lil red flashabou and a bit of blue flashabou but whats the main dub in black what? Is it black wool? icelandic OX/YAK tail hair? Black rabbit hair? or fibers from my black wool turtle neck from the 70s that i hated to wear as a kid?? I think i might try maroon too in this pattern a dark maroon? Hey andy one other thing did you ever try Angoria wool yet for any patterns? I Got lots of that.. and what size bead is he using for that size 10 hook? thanks creek//

I make mine out of Arizona Simi Seal in Black Red, then add Blue Steelie Ice Dub to the mix. You can also use Larva lace Mohair Plus in Black Red and add your blue ice dub. The black is simply a course dubbing of some kind - seal or Imi Seal works really well and you can add you're own red and blue flash. I have used black seal with blue ice dub for my bruised leech patterns and that works very well!

Great looking pattern. Have you tried tying this as a balanced pattern? I have not used balanced leeches in the past but plan to next year.

I have been warned about flimsy jig hooks. Tied some chassis with Daiichi 1760 hooks (heavy wire) and coated braided wire. Saw this concept in Dakota Fly Fisher newsletter. Figure this will give option to use as a balanced leech or normal tie in point for regular drift trolling. Still experimenting but like keeping options open on hooks and how to fish them.
