Fished during the last week of June... Minimal flow and not much luck in the spillway - 1 goldeye, 1 sauger, and 1 drum. Some other guy was slaying the goldeye with a fly rod just as I got there but the action was pretty localized and I didn't want to encroach.
I moved to below the dam and had pretty consistent action on drum - one MA and 4 or 5 others The flow was strong and all the fish came from slacker water close to shore. Up near the dam the slack water was only a few feet wide. Further down the slacker water extended 50 or 60 feet out.
Perhaps 2/3 of the way to the floodway, the drum eased off and the goldeye kicked in. At least, for the bobber 'n' worm crowd. I couldn't seem to cast quite far enough to reach the sweet spot.
Headed out there tomorrow morning... Early, I hope!
