Fished Lockport today and caught a few. Spent a few hours talking to a friend while his daughter hauled in cats (only one master today) and then fished a few hours on my own. Caught goldeye (yes they're in), a bullhead (in the mouth) and a nice unknown that I never did see, a couple of large cats (both LDRs) and a 32" carp that broke my 8wt when I tried to keep him away from the people that were fishing d/s of me. Luckily he was pretty well done when I broke the rod and I was able to hand line him (likely her) in. The rod still looks like it can be used for smaller fish, at least until I have some downtime to send it in for repairs.

Because of the snags I'm starting to use old flies that I had tied for trips that were never taken. In this case I tied on a large, all yellow, stonefly and it caught all my fish except the first one. So far it's been white and chartreuse one day, black another and today yellow (actually a tan shade).

Harry, that's very helpful. Thanks. I think I'll do the same and get out a few flies I'm tired of looking at. Stu, only moderately helpful... but appreciate the tips!

I went from four -six( not the ideal time to go for me) and I only caught three dinky little saugers on a yellow and white bow river bugger! Are they further downstream of the floodway cause everyone around me caught nothing but sauger but then again they are all using pickerel rigs to and I was using full sink line. Are they higher up in the water Coloum now cause I did have my floating line ready to go but didn't bother to change it .....

Yesterday I was fishing right at the outlet because people were at my usual spot d/s. Nobody was at the outlet. Everyone around me was catching goldeye but they were fishing for them too. Worms and a bobber. I was catching all my fish right on the bottom.

Hi guys,
I was out there yesterday too... Harry, I think maybe I talked to you early in the afternoon, right near the backwater eddy by the spillway on the North side?
Anyways, I *almost* had a good day. My best fish in was a 29" carp, plus I caught a couple white bass, a few sauger and one gold eye. I say it was almost good, because I had 4 big fish (one which I'm sure was a nice cat) spit the hook. Granted, two of those could have been snagged fish, but the other two were clean hook ups. So... If I had got even one of those fish in I would probably be telling you all the fishing was awesome.
The truth is, it was a little slow for me... I mean, I was out there from about 2:00-10:00, and only got 7 fish in or so. The thing is... The bait chuckers were HAMMERING big cats. Super frustrating.
But, they're out there, and there's no drum to get in the way. So, get out there folks... maybe you'll have a bit better luck than me!

No doubt. Is there a point of tying up more flies for the Red when you have ziplock bags full of ugly looking flies that never made their way into a fancy fly box.

I haven't heard of anyone having a great day down at the spillway yet. I think it might start picking up in a couple weeks. Until I hear some more positive feedback I'll save some gas and work on my flies (not Red River flies of course).

Anybody been out lately? Haven't been there in about a week but I've got an urge to catch some drum. Haven't heard if there are any around yet.

Was using exactly just that for about 30 mins before the rain started and caught alot of Goldeye! I was using a strike indicator for it so I didn't have to cast as much lol. When it started raining it was fine fishing but it was to much for me( I didn't have a rain coat. Just a soaking wet hoodie). Also saw people pull out drum alot! And someone caught a decent sized jack fish which was a first I've seen someone pull out one from lockport
