With Bruce reporting all those fish at Lockport and my inability to catch anything at all; I thought I'd better give it a try. First cast I foul hooked a carp estimated to be about 30", something I don't recommend doing at Lockport on an 8wt rod. Anyway finally got it in without breaking anything. Also caught a nice 26 1/2" walleye but that was it for the day. Lovely day and I had the spot all to myself.

Nicely done, Harry. Fine start to the year. Quality trumps quantity. Got your forearm workout for the day with that carp, I'd imagine.

I would like to say today was amazing! Bruce I finally got my first fish on my new fly rod! Couldn't have been happier! Then I caught a sucker, a huge buffalo!,carp, two walleye and a MASSIVE catfish!!!! All fair hook. I put on the full sink line and worked the clouser Minnie all evening. I fished for only 4 hours to! I could not be happier and and ill try to post pictures ASAP

Way to go Jeremy. I knew it was just a matter of patience. You were doing everything right, just needed the fish to cooperate.

That's the way to do it Jeremy!
I had very little luck on Tuesday night, faired one goldeye, fouled carp and walleye.
Good job on the walleye Harry.

just a size four clouser minnow. chartreuse on the bottom(i used all my chartreuse so i used yellow) and black ontop with krystal flash in the middle. but it was more important to get your fly on the bottom then it was fly selection Attachment Deleted

What action I had was also on a chartreuse clouser. And I was on the bottom...lost 1/2 dozen flies to the river gods. Going to head out again shortly since the forecast for the next few days looks a bit crappy.

The only flies I lost were to fish and that the eyes got banged up to much to use again. I used smaller eyes so I didn't get hung up as much but when I did they were fairly easy to get out
