I am very new to fly fishing, i don't yet have a rod but I have been tying flies since the winter, waiting to get into the hobby. I have a property on the Brokenhead River, where I do most of my fishing, but suspect that for fly fishing I would head out mostly to the Whiteshell. However, I have planned a big trip up to The Pas area, where I will hope to start. Any advice/input is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Welcome aboard. I was just checking out the Brokenhead near Beausejour on the weekend. Still a pretty good flow happening. Sure did look tempting though...

What do you get on the Brokenhead? Is that a spring thing or does it happen all summer? The Brokenhead might be just a good as place as the Whitehsell...

I still have yet to get a fly rod, as I'm currently heading into exam time. However, from my land I have caught many different types of fish, such as channel cats, bullhead, walleye, drum and pike. Apparently some people have even caught burbot near my place. I fear that the water there might be too murky to have much luck though, although I don't know, having not yet tried. I was out on LOTW last weekend with a friend who had a fly rod, and we were catching pike on streamers, so it's fair to say I'm definitely hooked. Just waiting until school's out.
