This spring I broke the tip of my 9 wt Sage while casting (strange one!) at Lockport. The very next trip, I was using my Streamside Elite 10', 9/10 wt, just below the locks and, while I had a snag, the rod tip came loose and slide down the line. Unfortunately, I could not wade out and, when the line broke, the tip slid into the murky,flood-swollen depths. Both companies handled the warranty efficiently, but with the Sage, I ended up spending $70.00 (a flat fee of $50.00 from the company plus $20.00 to ship a section down to them). What amazed me was that C.G. Emery (the Streamside rod distributor) honoured a warranty claim in the first place (and I told them exactly what happened) and my total cost was $20.00 to ship the butt section down to them in Ontario. They covered the return shipping. All for a rod that cost me $120.00 in the first place. I love my Sage, but I have to say that dollar for dollar, the Streamside rods (Wholesale sells them) are probably the best deals around. Not only is their warranty service first class, but the rods cast beautifully - as good or better, than more expensive stuff out there. Right now, I think their most expensive rod at Wholesale sells for $150.00....TIM Now, if only I was getting some actual fishing time in

Tim,
How long did it take for Sage to turn the repair around?
Looks like I'll be sending my 5wt down there way. Broke the tip section on Tuesday on a hook set... not a big one either... 5x tippet. Any way... I switched over to the back up rod, a 8.5' Cabellas stowaway6. Tell you the truth, I didn't really feel the 200 dollar difference, but a lot of it can be seen in the craftsmanship. Is it actually 200 dollars difference? I guess Sage says it is.

On another note, Sage asked me to send only 4" of the rod tip (female furrel) to them for replacement as apposed to the entire rod. Should cut down on the shipping charge, but there is still that $50 dollar replacemnt fee....

You're right about only having to send a small section of rod to Sage. However, given that it was going down to the States, I took the hacksaw to the broken section and then sent it Express Post (for the speed and the tracking features) which cost me about $20.00.
Sure enough, once it crossed the U.S. border, it disappeared! Three weeks later, while Canada Post was still on the case trying to figure out where it was, I got a notice from Fed Ex saying I had a parcel coming from Sage (Two weeks earlier, Sage said they hadn't received my parcel!)! Total time: about five weeks and Canada Post refunded my shipping cost!
Moral of the story: you may want to include insurance. From a warranty standpoint, that broken section has value. And, I'm guessing a normal turnaround would be 3-4 weeks.
Re: Emery: Having been to Wholesale recently, I noticed that I probably oversold the Emery warranty: the cheaper rods (Jupiter series) only have a one-year warranty now, while the more expensive Serenity series is five years. (They turned it around in just under four weeks, no glitches) ...TIM

I had to send a broken tip to Sage last year and there was a very quick turn around. (just under 3 weeks) I broke my Guideline rod while up at God's River so I'll have to figure out how their warranty is.

Thanks Nick, Just sent the rod out yesterday. Hoping for that same turn around time... just in time for things to pick up in the fall.
