The fishing was VERY slow to start. Managed a medium cat, a goldeye and fouled a 30 in. carp in the first 2-3 hrs. Then came the rain...and the kitties. Fought two nice cats, 35 in. & 36 in. as the rain was pouring down. Got another bite, missed the hookset, storm clouds passed, sunny, slowed right back down. Moved away from the dam, and met up with the MFFA guys. After that managed two more cats, one medium sized, and a 35 in. that I fouled right in the gut. I was fishing next to Shane, who also fouled a kitty at the same time as mine. That's pretty odd, a double header both foul hooked. Then the skeeters made there way down to the water...called it a night. Pardon me Shane for not introducing myself.

Hey Joel, Think we have talked befor. Didn't recognize you with all the rain gear. That doubl header foul hook was bizzzare. Was a bit of a slower night for sure. Lost the one carp, couldn't hook up with any of the carp in the shallows. Did get two smaller cats just as the bugs got super bad. Worst I have ever seen the skeeters! Good to hear you got into a few bigger ones. Maybe see you out there again.

Actually, it wasn't too bad until the first rain started, when you all showed up (around 6:00 or so). Up until that rain, and during it, I hooked into a number of fish, including a 14" cat, and a 23" drum. Once the skies opened up and the water got very dirty, the bit went off. I know we had some action right at dusk, but I think that was the typical dusk activity.
Just my thoughts.

IT wasn't too bad until the exact moment my fly hit the water... haha yeah. Sounds about right... kind of expected that knowing we were driving out into a potential storm again.
We were in the spillway, the main channel is a bit fast right now with this extra rain. Looking forward to some lower levels so we can get out there.

Hey Tim;
We had waded out to the big wing dam, and had to carefully cross over the trough to the better section. We were, for the most part, fishing the deep section between the wing dam and the big island downstream of it. Some success was had on the north shore of the outlet as well, again wading out to access the deeper waters. Fortunately the floodway doesn't seem to have much water flowing out of it, so we were able to wade easily, but with care, as there are always quick drop-offs.
